Chapter 9 Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts...

I just finished reading Chapter 9 of Will Richardson's book, Blogs Wikis, Podcasts and other web tools for classrooms again. This chapter is titled, What It All Means. What it all means is change and will emphasizes ten  big shifts that he believes will be needed to best educate students for their future.  As read this chapter it screams that teachers must change how they approach teaching if we are going to meet the needs of our students and the challenges they are going to meet. One repeating theme in these shifts is that students will need to be consumers, collaborators and producers of information and knowledge for not just their teachers or community but for the world. With a students education focusing on the collaboration and the products with the mastery of knowledge being the ultimate product for consumption by an authentic audience followed by conversation and synthesis of ideas.  This chapter gives good insight as to changes in  education and transitions teachers will be required make if education is to be relevant for our clients, students, as well as teachers.
